A look through 2011

2011 was a great year filled with many great memories and here are some of the highlights of it that I will continue to cherish.

January: Spent the New Year with friends and had my lovely boyfriend to kiss at midnight.

February: Valentine's dinner, Peter made me a carrot cake and tried to make the icing pink for me using cherry extract. Didn't quite taste so hot but it was the thought that definitely counted.

March: Spent my birthday at a private lake with just the bf and myself; had an amazing birthday with him. Also got to celebrate at the Cheesecake factory with the friends.

April: My dad got remarried to Summer, who I adore.

June: Went to regionals and qualified for Nationals holding second.

July: 4th of July, Peter officially used the "L" word. After almost three years it couldn't have been more perfect. Was definitely worth the wait.
Also went to Nationals in Indiana and made finals, placing 9th in the Nation. Go me!

September: Shannise and Drew got married, which was a beautiful ceremony and I am so happy for them.

November: Spent Thanksgiving with Peter's family while mine were out of town and also went to Adrienne's. So thankful that I not only have my family, but I have others that allow me to be a part of their family.

December: Had an amazing Christmas with all of my family.

December 31: As this year comes to an end I will be going back to the same place as last year to welcome in 2012. I look forward to everything that it will bring me and all the memories to be made.

Thankful

With the holidays approaching very soon, I happen to think about my life and everything I have to be thankful for. My life, like many others', is filled with ups and downs. But I am lucky enough to have so much to be thankful for; I have family, friends, a job, and so much more. I am surrounded with love and I feel so blessed to have these things in my life.

This year, my mother has been my savior. Being a college student, I struggle with money. Paying part of my school, skating, gas, my phone, insurance, etc has been very hard to do. Yet, my mother has never made me give up any of that. She could have easily said," No money, guess you can't skate." But she didn't. Instead she (and my step dad) have helped me through all of my financial struggles and taken some of that money burden off of my shoulders. But money is not everything; my mom has given me so much love- she always has, but as I get older, I appreciate that love more and more. She was there through one of the highlights of my entire year, which was making finals at nationals. She didn't have to take off work, drive to Indiana, and stay just to see me skate. But she did. And she was there for that moment that I will never forget. She always goes out of her way to make sure I am happy, and taken care of. I know "that's what mothers are supposed to do," but she does a pretty amazing job at it. When I look at her, I see myself in the future and I will be so happy if I can be half the mom she is. She is an amazing person, friend, and mother and I am so thankful for her.

My grandma is another person I am so thankful for. She is the person I go to to talk about everything. I could tell her the sky is blue, and she would listen. She'd laugh, but listen. She has the most beautiful heart filled with warmth and laughter. I feel like she is my diary that talks back to me and I am forever thankful that I have that kind of communication with someone. When I am with her, I have fun and forget about all of life's hardships...or I talk about them with her and she makes me feel better about them. There is no greater gift than a loving grandma; and mine happens to be the greatest of gifts.

There are so many other family members as well as friends I am thankful for; my sister-who has become someone I have grown much closer with and adore, my step dad- for always being there to keep me going even though he teases me about it all the time :), and of course my little brother, Michael- for looking up to me and reminding me to continue to be a good role model because I have someone that looks to me for life's lessons. And the rest of my family is just as important; but these people have truly made my year wonderful. Along with all of my friends, new and old, each are special people that help me get by and make me laugh, which is my favorite thing to do!

My boyfriend is the next part of my life that I am thankful for. This is our 4th Thanksgiving together  and without him, I would not know the joy of having that person that completes you. He makes my heart melt and every day I think to myself how lucky I am to have him. He knows just how to make me mad... but what's more important, is he knows just the way to make me smile. I sometimes cannot even find the words to describe how he has affected my life because it's indescribable. He's my superman and makes me look forward to waking up every morning, knowing it's another day to spend together. He is such an amazing person to have in my life and every day I thankful to call him my boyfriend.

There are so many amazing people in my life and without any one of them, I would not be where I am today. I am so thankful for the life I have because I think it is perfect. Even with the bumps; I grow from them and keep moving forward. I hope every person is able to find things, even little things, to be thankful for because life is beautiful. It is also precious and short. It should be lived it to it's fullest and appreciated for all of it's gifts it can bring; Not just what can be seen but the deeper things as well.

Happy Thanksgiving,
xoxo Meg

I Believe

I believe in...
The power of love.
The strength in forgiveness.
The path of fate.
The magic of miracles.
The importance of kindness.
The drive to succeed.
The hope for my future
And most important,
I believe in myself.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Thanksgiving and Christmas are quickly approaching. Which means two things, I have to pay for Spring semester classes and PRESENTS!

I'm actually extremely excited for next semester. Although it will likely be a hard semester, I am excited that it will be my 2nd to last one before I get my degree and transfer to a University for my Bachelor's degree. I am so excited to finish community college because it means I can begin substitute teaching, which means I will finally begin on a whole new chapter in my life as a teacher.

Besides, registering for classes, my favorite time of year is quickly approaching. I LOVE this time of year; it's so full of joy and giving. The smell of the cold, drinking hot chocolate, singing songs, watching movies, seeing lights, playing in snow, decorating the tree, baking cookies...all with friends and family, which makes it all that much better. I love shopping for presents for people. Not getting the most expensive things, but the most meaningful things. I've already started my list of gifts and I plan to begin that shopping soon!

Another thing I'm very excited about is donating to charity. There is a charity called, "The Family Living Center" and it caught my attention because it is a homeless shelter for families only. The thought of a family spending the holidays in a homeless shelter is heart breaking, so I plan on collecting clothes and toys from work, friends, and family to give to this shelter during the holidays and hopefully make someone's Christmas special for them.

There is nothing better than this time of year, and I look forward to spending it with some of the amazing people I have in my life.

Roller Girl

Yet another skating competition has arrived! It is not a big "important" competition, just a small one more for fun. But this will be a VERY busy weekend. Friday I have to drive to the competition rink for an official practice, once I am finished I have to go babysit until 11 p.m., and then I will be picking up my new girlfran Shannise and we are going to bake a cake and watch a movie NO SLEEP since I have to start getting ready at 2 a.m. If I tried to sleep, I would never wake up so staying awake is the best option for this girl! Then we will leave at 3:45 a.m, and head to the rink where I skate at 6:15 and 7:30. Then again on Sunday at 9, but at least I will be able to sleep for that one. :)

Being a roller skater is something I have loved since I was a little girl. No matter how nervous I am, when I get onto that floor everything goes away and I just let all my worries go and try my best to shine. I love the feeling of being out there with everyone watching, so I can show them all of the hard work and dedication I put into doing what I do. What is even greater than winning a medal, is having younger girls that are just starting out come up to me telling me that they look up to me; It really does not get any better than that.

Saturday my mom is not able to come, because I did not want her to have to wake up that early and drive an hour. She will be there Sunday though, along with my grandma.
Although my family is a HUGE support, my mom is my biggest fan; she comes to watch whenever I ask her, she helps however she can, and makes sure I have everything I need... and it means the world to me.
She was there when I became a National Finalist for the first time and we burst into tears and we hugged and danced up and down- It is something I will never forget.

Skating is something that takes work, dedication, ambition, and it has it's ups and downs but I love it more than anything.

So hopefully I do well, even on no sleep! We'll see! :)

292

Tomorrow is my Grandpa Ken's birthday party where there will be a bbq and baseball. The only thing that is better than that is spending the afternoon with my family. This is where the number 292 comes from. In the thesaurus, the word "love" is on page 292. It is not "my" number, it is my grandparents who are one of the couples I see that I truly feel the warmth and love of their relationship. And instead of saying, "I love you", "292" is a cute and creative way they say it.
Grandpa is gentle and is full of the best stories. Although at times stubborn, grandma still looks forward to him coming home.
Grandma is my rock. She's fun, smart, loving, and has the best laugh. No matter what, I know I always can count on her. And although she is more outspoken and is not afraid to give her opinion, grandpa still loves her like crazy.
With these two amazing people in my life, it is one of the many things that...
